Ok just because you have regular periods doesnt mean you have good quality eggs when you do O.
Have you been charting to see if you are Oing? Has your dh been tested yet? Besides hormone testing what else has your dr mentioned on checking before sticking you on clomid?
Make sure you read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility.

i agree with blastoff. clomid is typically used to regulate ovulation and to assist in getting a mature egg(s) to be released at the proper time in your cycle. i would go ahead with the clomid. specialists are specialists for a reason. unless you get a bad vibe from them in your gut, go ahead with it.

think of it this way, whats the worse that could happen? you get pg?

Re: i have regular periods and ovulate why is my doc putting me on Clomid

If you arent comfortable with taking clomid just yet then wait. No harm in waiting. I actually wish I had waited when my first moron of a dr suggested it. The reason I say that is he didnt inform me about clomid and that there should be a set time one is on it. He also didnt change the dose while I was on it so I spent 6 months on the same dose with nothing to show for it. I actually can't take clomid again to help me. Reason being is the longer one is on the the more risks one takes. Grand total I was on it for over a year and half. The longest time was 6 months.
Make sure you talk with your dr and find out what her/his game plan is for putting you on clomid. Such as does s/he plan on monitoring you while you are on it? How long will you be on each set dose? Have the risks been discussed? Granted the risk for multiplies is small but still a risk that should be discussed. What about the other side effects and the cancer risk?

As for the comment about them being specialist for a reason doesnt always hold true. Some specialist arent what they are cracked up to be. I have had three different morons who were all "specialists" in my yrs of ttc. That is why I suggest the book and charting. So you can be armed with as much info as possible both to help your dr but to weed out the ones that arent helpful.
