Hi there,
I bought the book ' Taking charge of your fertility ' yesterday.I was wondering has anyone got this book? and has it worked for you? I was reading a chapter last night about detecting ovulation better through cervical fluid than opks.I was wondering if anyone does that instead of opks & is it better?

I read this book and got pregnant the first month I used it. So did many of my friends.

If nothing else, it's very helpful to know what your body's doing when, and for what reason...they should make it mandatory health reading for getting to know your cycle and your body in school if you ask me!

Hi there,

I read the book and I found it very informative and helpful. I haven't gone down the charting route yet though. I still use OPK's, I know the book doesn't fully encourage it, but I also look at for other fertility signs as well.

I haven't read the book yet, but I was wondering that too. The day I got a medium faint line on my OPK (which according to the instructions means it's not positive, but that was the only day I got the line)- I had the best EWCM. The instructions say you won't ovulate until 24 to 48 hours after the time of the test. By then my CM was not nearly as good.

So do you trust your CM and BD on that day, or wait until the next day like the OPK says?

I think you should trust the CM, I remember when we were trying I had really good CM a few days before I actually got a positive OPK, when I did get a positive OPK the CM was basically gone. The bad thing about OPK is that you can get a neg one hour but a positive a few hours later...who wants to test that much? For example, on Sunday I had a neg. OPK, then that night I was pretty sure I ovulated, then on Monday I had a post. OPK (they will show after ovulation to) but when I got the positive almost all the CM was gone. We BDed anyway (before and after) and got pregnant.
