Had a couple of drinks while TTC - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

My husband I have only been TTC for just under a month now. I am not a drinker by any stretch of the imagination, but I do enjoy the occasional glass of wine at a family gathering etc. In the books that I have read it says that you can have the occasional drink while you are TTC, but the book my husband is reading says that I shouldn't have anything to drink. This past weekend I had a couple of glasses of wine, but am now feeling extremely guilty and worried about IF I am pregnant how this is going to affect the development of the baby. From here on out, no more wine for me regardless of whether or not I think I am pregnant. I guess my question is do I have anything to worry about since I do not have a confirmed pregnancy? I do welcome any and all opinions.

i don't think you have anything to worry about. quite a few people i know (that weren't ttc) actually got drunk while they were pregnant, however, they didn't even know they were pregnant at that point. actually, with both of my god children, they're mom was drunk at a party, threw up in the morning, took a pregnancy test 2 days later and was pregnant. both of the children were born with 10 fingers and 10 toes, and fully functioning.

if by some chance you are pregnant, just make sure to inform your doctor that you did have a few glasses of wine. but i really don't think you have anything to worry about.

I dont think you have ANYTHING to worry about. I drink a few with friends every time I get af...that way its not to much of a downer

My cousin was 1 month pg didn't know it and drank alot of hard liquor she was very stressed and her doctor told her it was probably fine..sure enough her little girl is perfectly okay.

Also my boss was sharing with me how she downed a 12 pack Saturday(crazy I know) and then found out the following Monday she was pregnant. Her girl is 8 now and completely okay. I agree that if you are mid cycle its a good idea not to, but don't beat yourself up too much.
