Pregnancy Test taken in evening? - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

How effective are pregnancy tests if taken in afternoon or evening? I know you're supposed to test first thing in the morning.

AF is due today but hasn't arrived yet, and I'm getting anxious. I know if I just wait I can test tomorrow morning or AF will show up, but still I'm thinking about testing tonight... I'm drinking lots of water so I'll go to the bathroom a lot and I'm starting to go crazy. I don't have any symptoms either way...

i would wait until the morning. since you said you ahev been drinking a lot of water. The more fluids you drink before taking a test can dilude the urine and give you a negative even if it is supposd to be a positive. and if you do test tonight after all that liquid you will still be anxious becasue you will be thinking what if it was wrong and it is just negative becasue of all the water i drank?? so i would try and wait until the morning! if you can! I have a DR appt tomorrow and i am trying to think of questions to ask about ttc do you ahve any ideas.. i know a lot from reading books and research on line so do you have any ideas as far as asking a doctor? Hope your test comes positive.. TOMOORW if you can wait! do you have any symptoms?

Thanks! Yeah, I'm probably pretty diluted. I'm going to try to wait it out. No symptoms... Last month I had a bunch of different symptoms, but I think it was just my mind playing tricks on me.

I would just have your Dr check to make sure you're healthy and go over any specific health issues relative to you. I had gestational diabetes with #1, so I had to make sure my glucose was under control before TTC, which it is

If you have any thyroid issues, that would be something to check, but that is pretty rare.

ok i will do that . I hope you can wait it out until tomorrow! Let me know what it comes back. I know what you mean last month i was sure i was going to get a BFP then when my af came it only lasted 2 and a half days and the first day it was very light like hardly anything at all then day 2 about an hour of semi heavy then back to light light light and then nothing.. so i am so confused as to what the deal is so i wil talk to my dr tomorrow and see what she thinks.

Still nothing tonight, but have been keeping busy and will wait until morning to test.

It is frustrating when AF is so predicable and then something different happens. I had the same thing the other month with a really light several days, which was unusal for me. A long time ago I asked the Dr about some odd AF and she just said that's the way it is sometimes... no reason.

Also, the Dr will probably tell you it may take a year with normal fertillity of both partners. So just have patience! Of course it doesn't hurt to be proactive.
