| Re: Not producing an egg...
What ?!
This does not make ANY sense at all. Please try to relax as you were badly informed. An ultrasound cannot diagnose "no ovarian activity", it is only a snapshot of your ovaries at one point in time. Ovarian activity can be diagnosed with blood tests. A female cycle begins at the start of your period and during this first part of the cycle you are producing more estrogen leading to ovulation. After you ovulate you will begin producing more progesterone in order to prepare your uterus for conception. You may be able to chart your cycle by looking at your cervical mucus. It is usually a bit thicker just before, during and just after ovulation (exactly like a raw egg white).
If you have just gone off the birth control pill then if may take a while before your cycle returns to normal. You can help your body by maintaining a proper body weight, exercising regularly (a 30 minute walk everyday does wonders) and eating properly (protein, fruits and veggies .. cut down on the carbs if possible). Reducing stress will also help a lot. If for any reason you are not ovulating properly, it will probably take a little time after the hormones for your body to go back to normal.
If you had NO ovarian activity you would have a variety of other symptoms such as terrible hot flashes, night sweats, lots of fatigue, brain fog, heart palpitations etc.. In other words, menopausal symptoms. If you do not have these symptoms it is because your ovaries are producing the necessary hormones and if they are then they are definitely active.
Speak to your doctor and try not to stress too much as cortisol is another hormone that is not good to have too much of over the long term.
All the best to you. Come back and tell us how things are going.
