Need Encouragement - My Story - Trying to Conceive (TTC) Message Board

Hi-

I'm new to the whole message board idea but I am seeking some encouragement. I just had an HSG done on Tuesday and it came back that I may have a bi-cornuate uterus. My husband is having his sperm test today. The doctor wants to wait to get his test back before we discuss anything further. I have tried to read up on this myself and I am seeing a lot of negative feedback like multiple miscarriages and high risk pregnancy. Is there anyone out there who has gone through this? I know I am in the very early stages of everything but hearing what I did made me very anxious, nervous and sad and I am hoping to hear from someone who has been through this and can help me grasp everything that is going on.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar with your condition, but I just wanted to reply because I saw no one had and didn't want you to feel bad.

Try not to focus on everything you have read and listen to your doctors instead.

I wasn't familiar with your condition so I googled it. From what I read it does look like it could be harder for you to carry a pregnancy to full term but not impossible. "Not impossible" is the most important thing to remember. My cousin had a very hard time carrying a pregnancy to full term after she had given birth to a still born baby when she was 17. After a total of five pregnancies, she carried her daughter to near full term. She turns 5 tomorrow. My cousin also had another miscarriage after her daughter's birth then delivered a full term baby boy who is now 2 1/2. She was told before her daughter was born that her chances of carrying a pregnancy to the point of fetal survival was below 30% and as you can see she had two babies!

I know what you're going through with the anxiety and worry. I don't have your condition but I have had other conditions which affect my ability to conceive and carry full term. I have a 4 yr old daughter, two years ago I had an ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage (they were twins). Luckily they were able to save my tube but the scarring still reduces my chance of conceiving and increases the likelihood of another ectopic pregnancy. I was diagnosed a little over two years ago with HPV (an unfortunate result of an unfaithful ex-boyfriend). I've had to had a small section of my cervix removed. And to top it off, breast cancer runs in my family, the gene that causes breast cancer and uterine cancer. I'm waiting for a genetic testing appointment at our local cancer center so I've been told that now is the time for me to have another if I want one. My fiance and I do and we're starting to suspect he might have some issues as well. Anyways, enough about me. I wish you and your husband the best of luck!

Hi! Don't give up hope. My DH was considered sterile since childhood and I was according to Docs in great shape. We tried to get pregnant and couldn't. We then did ALL kinds of fertility treatments and even though I was in excellent shape "I" still couldn't conceive. I felt horrible, here I was not even needing DH's help, and perfectly fertile yet Nothing. We couldn't get pregnant for 3 years... Later at a healing service at our church, we got pregnant soon after ON OUR OWN....out of the blue! God's Hand for sure! I meet so many women now who I have met and I tell them my story in hopes to make them understand that with God anything is possible. My kids are not 12 and 10 and I am debating now to have another, but NOW have some health concerns. But in regard to getting pregnant again, even with DH...no worry as our second child was born after only trying ONE month. You TOO need to have faith. A co-worker of mine, hasn't been able to get pregnant for years and I told her to look at adoption, which I am right now doing too..and told her that I believe that God intends you to have the kids you are SUPPOSED to have...no matter how they come. Just know GOD WILL give you YOUR kids in HIS time and in his way. What I want to say to you is this...I don't care what a Doctor says to you...they don't know EVERYTHING...my DH was told that there was pretty much NO CHANCE of him ever having kids. But guess what, he has two! So do NOT lose hope!!!!!! If my DH is sterile, and we have kids....I BELIEVE that ANYTHING is possible even for YOU! I will pray that it works out for you and I KNOW somehow it will!
