Alright, First off using a opk for a hpt DOES work! The downside however of seeing a positive opk before a hpt positive is that an opk can pick up a chemical pregnancy, which basically is a pregnancy, it just ends in an early miscarriage. That is the downfall of using an opk for an hpt too early. If its lets say 5-6 days before AF, then try it. Just try not to get your hopes up too soon just in case. Plus they are cheaper than hpt's.

Next issue. after I O, the opk strips went blank a couple days later,( a reason why i felt they were accurate in detecting pregnancy) a week later I tried it again, they had a second line but not as dark as the control/test line. SO I say if there's a second line at all then its a sign of a possible pregnancy(unless you take med's with hcg in it, that will affect results), but to not get your hopes up as that early of early pregnancies can turn into m/c!

After i got My BFP (which i took 2 more hpts all different brands, all dif urine, I got 3 +'s altogether) I took a opk with next urine, and again a second line. It was darker than other day's but not as dark as control/test line.

So they DO WORK! Just remember your taking the chance on knowing about having a m/c if the hpt doesn't come up +!
