Just curious- can you get your period and not ovulate?? I was on a website doing a ovulation calendar and it said women's cycles that are less than days or more than days are not ovulating. How is it possible to get your period without ovulation?
Yes it is possible to have a period without ovulating. You see the lining still builds up during your cycle whether you ovulate or not and since it builds up it needs to be shed. And if there is not a pregnancy to be supported then the lining will shed and hence your period without ovulation.
I personally dont trust the online sites that calculate your cycle for you. I have tried one and it was totally off for me compared to the temp charts I was taking at the time. Though if it is using your temps that you are putting in on a daily basis then it should work fine. If not then you might want to try another site or program. I found a free program, that I havent used it yet, called LifeCycle that is very easy to use. I was messing around with it for a bit to get the feel of it. I got it just in case we do want to use while we are ttc this time.
I don't get why some women get their period without ovulating. I understand that the lining builds up, but with me it would build up until I ovulated, which could be as long as 3 or 4 months. Then I would have a very heavy, long, crampy period. I wonder why some women get their period when they are supposed to even without ovulating and some women don't. Our bodies are a strange phenomenon.
do you think this is something that could happen all the time or just a couple times? I am starting to wonder if I even ovulate. I am getting that dreaded pap test in a couple of weeks- so I will mention this to the doc. I don't seem to get cramps anymore and I certainly do not notice that "egg white" cervical mucous. from looking at the calendar my cycles are from 30-42 days long. we are just ttc and I know you have to wait 1 year before getting help but hey if my cycle is not regular and I can start by fixing that, why not?
