| Urine Culture Results - Staphylococcus haemolyticus
Afternoon All,
Around ten years ago I was diagnosed with a narrow bladder neck as the cause of frequent / poor urination. I've been on alpha blockers and they've worked fairly well until recently. Over the past few months I've been going to the toilet more, waking up in the night (although only once or twice), struggling at times to urinate and suffering from lower back / abdominal pain.
Bloods are all ok as is a dipstick test. My GP has sent me for a bladder scan (being done next week) but as they didn't arrange a urine test I had one done privately.
This showed >100,000 cfu/ml of staphylococcus haemolyticus, but the report says this is of 'doubtful significance' due to a White Blood Count of only 3 and therefore no infection. The suggestion would seem to be the Staph is from the surrounding skin. Despite this the report suggests I discuss the findings with my GP.
I suspect the suggestion I go to my GP is to cover them from any potential liability. But could the Staph be the cause of my symptoms and / or a sign of possible prostatis? Is it worth going back to my GP - I'm reluctant to keep bothering them. Info on the web about this particular bacteria is limited so any help would be really appreciated.
I'm a 43 year old male in otherwise good health but the symptoms are making my life pretty miserable.
Many thanks,
Craig.
