I have been having urinary symptoms for a few weeks now and have gone to the doctors to have urine culture's done. What come's back is diphtheroids at over 100,000. First I was put on Cipro for 5 days and when I still had problems I was put on Keflex... which I just started. When my regular doctor (saw a different doctor who precribed for the diphthroids) saw the results, she called and said she really wouldn't prescibe anything for the diphthreroids even if they are as high as my count is. She said it's more a vaginal overgrowth and should'nt affect the bladder (I have interstitial cystitis also). She told me to stop taking the Keflex. Now... who is right? Should an overgrowth of Diphtheroids be treated.... and what is their significance if they are out of the normal range. I also posted under Women's Board.
