Post What can cause blood in urine?

My 7 year old son has been passing pure blood at the end of his "wees", also his urine smells very fishy and he has experienced some lower back pain.
He is on antibiotics and a sample of his urine has been sent for testing. He only passes a very small amount of urine but does this every 20 mins or so.
It is probably an urinary tract infection but does anybody know what else could be a cause of bllod in urine?
Thanks

HI MARGYP, I'M 43 AND SOMETIMES I HAVE BLOOD COMING WITH MY URINE. I HAVE A KIDNEY PROBLEM WHERE I GET KIDNEY STONES EVERY 3-4 YEARS. DOES YOUR SON DRINK PLENTY OF WATER? ALSO LIVER PROBLEMS CAN MAKE YOUR SONS URINE DARK. HE SEEMS SO YOUNG FOR THSES PROBLEMS. GIVE HIM A HUG. GOOD LUCK, LET US KNOW WHAT YOU FIND

Hi, MargyP

About 6 years ago, I experienced some pain in the left side of my stomach that caused me to visit the ER. The surgeon came in (as they were going to prep me for appendicitis surgery) and he touched a spot in my back on the left side and it about shot me out of my skin. Come to find out, I had lots of blood in my urine and I was hospitalized for 5 days with kidney infection. I was put on IV antibiotics and drank plenty of fluids and have had no problems since. I would definitely have him checked just to make sure. Good luck!
