Post WHATS THE DEAL?

Hi. I was diagnosed with a UTI 3 weeks ago (had symptoms for a week prior to that). I was given 3 days worth of Cipro. I still had the symptoms but urine test came back negative. Went back to the Dr. this past Monday (3/31) and the urine test came back positive. Dr gave me 7 days worth of Bactrim, said this would clear up the infection. Well, here it is Thursday and i'm still having the symptoms (always feeling like i have to go, slight burning, takes time to pass urine when I really do have to go, etc etc etc). Shouldnt I have started to feel better by now? Has anyone taken Bactrim for a UTI before? Also, is slight incontinence a part of a UTI? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance :-)

Hi, sorry to hear of your infection, I'm battling one of my own as well. My doctor put me on a seven day (2x a day) Rx of Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole double strength. I'm in day 4 and I would say that I'm not ready to call myself cured. I think the best thing to do is to finish out the Rx and see how things are after that.

By the way, I was having some discharge before I was diagnosed with the UTI (bladder infection) and it has not cleared up completely, but it's much better. I was wondering if anyone else had this symptom as well.

Good luck with it..."I feel your pain!"
