large amount of protein in urine - Urology Message Board

I have a large amount of protien in my urine which I doscovered by mistake with a test strip, has since been confirmed with several 24 hour urine tests and much investigation done of it.I am 60.
seems to not be any problems responsible for it, grandfather had the same and perhaps my problem is inherited..
any comments or thoughts??

If you eat large amounts of protein (meat, dairy, etc.) it will build up lots of uric acid in your system and will come out in your urine. Is that your case?

I am not a dr but have you been checked for diabetes? I understand protien in the urine is pretty common for folks with uncontrolled diabetes.
