You don't give your age so it's hard to offer an explanation. But no matter what the cause, D-Mannose completely cured me....and a few others on here as well. Now, I'm past menopause (51) which is when many women start getting UTI's. In fact, I don't believe I ever had one until about three years ago and I've been getting them on a regular basis ever since. Nothing helped, and I mean nothing. Cranberry just made it worse. Well, I started reading about D-Mannose and finally decided to give it a try. I haven't had any problems ever since I started taking it, which was about 3-4 months ago. I haven't felt this normal in three years, and it will also cure an existing infection. Really. It's expensive, about $25 for a 30-day supply, but for me, it's priceless. I'd gladly pay twice that to keep feeling like this. You can do a search for it and maybe try it yourself. I'm pretty skeptical about most things but this is something that's worth every penny I spend for it.
I am 28 years old.
Sorry I guessI should have mentioned that.
I just what to know why it keeps happening and I don't like to be on medicine my whole life.
I don't think that can be good for your body
Thank you for your response I will check it out!
I too have had recurring UTI's for the past 2 years. They came from out of nowhere, it seemed. I too had all the tests with no reason for them.
I think I have found the reason for mine however. I use Lubricant when I have intercouse. It seemed that everytime, just a few days after the act, I would get one. Knowing this, I was being careful, showering and urinating after sex, which did hold the UTI's at bay for the past 6 months. However, this past weekend, I did not shower afterwards and BAM!! I am sitting here typing in agony as we email.
I too have tried Cipro, MacroBid, SMTPZ etc but the infection always re-occurs. I too dont want to keep pumping myself full of pills.
So after much research these past few years I have found a couple of Home remedies that seem to work, as long as you take at the first signs.
The first one is Baking Soda and water. Yes disgusting it is! You are supposed to take a teaspoon of Baking soda in a glass of water 8 oz and drink it down. Its tough, believe me. Then drink a few glasses of water over the next hour. At the next hour, repeat the baking soda drink, then the water. You are supposed to repeat again for one more time but I couldnt make it. It did work for me when I was having symptoms. Later that night my symptoms were gone.
The second, is plain old Alka-Seltzer. Pop those until you feel its gone. Of course dont take too many.
The third is GSE or grapefruit seed extract. I read that its a powerful Antibiotic and antibacterial. You can buy it at most health stores for about $7 dollars a bottle. Anyway, mix 15 drops in with some natural cranberry juice 6 oz (unsweetened) and drink that 3 time a day. It is truly rancid and you will hate it but it gets rave reviews and seems to be a cure all for just about anything...
I am trying the GSE remedy right now. I havent tried it before but I dont want to take the Cipro that sitting in my closet. I'm drinking this mixture and also taking the OTC Pyridium for the pain. I'm going to drink this for about 5 days and then take a test (you can buy those AZO test strips) if its still postive I'll try for another 5 days. If that dosnt work, I give up...back to my cipro I guess.
Just an FYI.....there has been research studies lately showing that UTI bacteria which causes most infections are "evolving" to were they now burrow into your bladder lining and hide there. This makes curing UTI's more and more difficult. The bacteria can not be treated or washed away as easily when they are just clinging to the lining. I hate to be the bearer of this news but thought I would share it anyway. Damn those little *****s.
Anyway, sorry to drone on. I hope you find relief.
Please read the Cytoscopy at the top. I had recurring UTI's. It was awful. You need to go right to a good Urologist. The cause for mine was TINY polyps. He Saw them with a tiny camera. He also stretched the urethra a tiny bit so my bladder can empty. I have no problems now at all. My OBGYN was clueless, I had to to teach HER about all of this. A specialist will save you time, money and pain. Good luck!!!!
I'm currently trying to get over a UTI myself that I suspect wasn't fully cured with two types of antibiotics a month and a half ago. The doctor in the ER yesterday asked me if they had "cultured" my urine last month to see what organism grew, but no, the Dr. had poured my sample down the sink. The ER Dr. said there are people who get UTIs with organisms that are resistant to common antibiotics. What I say is if you keep getting a bladder infection, make sure the Dr. has your sample cultured for organisms every time, so if you were given a drug and have seen no change in a few days, you can go back to your Dr. who has your test results and get a drug more appropriate for you.
Good luck to you!
So much good information!!!
I am so glad I am not the only one who has all these issues!
Also I have not used lubrication such as KY or Astroglide since I read the prior post and I have been UTI free <crossing fingers>
I am gonna eliminate one thing at a time and see if it works if not then back to the doctor I go!
Thanks so much!

Re: Reoccuring UTI? Help
I'm 19 and I have gotten one about once a year since I was 13. It sucks, I know. I agree with everyone's suggestions, but another thing to try might be st. john's wort or another calming herb. Stress can be a trigger for UTIs and it certainly doesn't help me get rid of them!
