Question Is this UTI - Please Help Soon???

HI all,

I am a 27 year old female. This is my 1st time on this healthboard. I had a question for which i didn't wanna go to the doctor as it might be something mirnor. I am not sure if I have a UTI or not. I don't know what all symptoms you should have to have a UTI. For now I just have slight irriatation around and inside my vagina or maybe the urinary area (not sure). Its been like this since two days and happened when i didn't wash myself after having sex 2 days back. I don't have any pain or irritation elsewhere, no fever, no frequent urge to urinate, just irtration in that area. I also had this kind of irritation last year when i didn't wash myself after sex and it just went away by it self in 4-5 days. So does this classify as a normal irritation/infection or a case of UTI. IF anyone can help me and tell me what shoudl i do about it or take some medication. Is there any over-the-counter medicine available that I can make use of, I just saw an ad on TV for a medication called AZO for UTI, shoudl i take that ?? Help please !

I got this info from a medical website. Hope it helps.

1. a frequent urge to urinate
2. a painful, burning sensation while passing urine
3. a general sick feeling - tired, shaky, or washed-out
4. a feeling of discomfort in the pelvic region
5. an uncomfortable pressure above the pubic bone(suprapubic area)
6. a strong urge to urinate, but passing only a small amount of urine
the urine may look milky or cloudy, or reddish if blood is present
7. a fever may be present, usually this means the infection has moved into the kidneys.
8. Other symptoms of a kidney infection include pain in the back or side below the ribs, nausea, or vomiting.

Your post didn't provide a lot of details. You may have had a slight allergic reaction to your contraceptive, i.e., condom/foam/vaginal insert and you may want to try Silk-e lubricant or similar product in the future -- or
your partner may have been too aggressive. I've had partners that approach the issue like a demolition crew. Where's the fun in that?
