| Dosage and Course for Cipro 500mg to treat Urinary Tract Infection
Hello,
Brief history about my dad:
* Early 60s, looks early 50s, eats a balanced diet, gets plenty of fluids goes to gym every other day, 1 hr on bike, 30 minutes on elliptical. Exercises so vigorously that even youngsters in their 20s look at this old man (as my dad puts it) in amazement
* In 1992, he had severe urinary tract infection. it was so painful, he literally wanted to kill himself. Went to emergency room, and doctor prescribed Cipro (I don't know dosage, or length of course)
* About a month ago, dad had painful bowel movement where he felt there was an "obstruction". Dr prescribed Cipro 500 mg for 10 days, plus Anusol, to relieve the bowel movement discomfort.
* For past few days, had urinary tract infection. Not nearly as severe as 1992, but we're scared that it will reach that level.
What is the dosage and course for Cipro that he should take for this current urinary tract infection? What other points, questions should he raise to the doctor? My dad still has bowel movement discomfort, and has been advised to get a colonoscopy, but he is more scared of the urinary tract infection, and he wants to fix this first. Please point us in the right direction. Thanks and we appreciate.
