Hello all-
try to keep the story short, so I'll use a list format
1. 15 days ago, on vacation in puerto rico I had a one night stand. it was a protected encounter, and I had no reason to suspect that I put myself at signifcant risk.
2. 2 days after the incident, started experiencing pain and tenderness in the tip of my penis/urethra...not a terrible pain, but definitely noticeable, and when I looked at the penis I saw that the surface was reddish and raw. I immediately thought the worst and did a good job of freaking myself out about having caught an std. after worrying all day, I visited the ER. the doctor said I was ok and was just "a little raw". he gave a me a 3 day antibiotic course that he said would make sure that I wouldn't catch something through the wound.
3. a week after the ER visit, nothing had really changed (nor had anything worsened), so i decided to visit a urologist in San Juan. he gave me a thorough examination and looked at my urine, and he concluded that I had irritated the urethra, most likely by not cleaning off the lubrication of the condom well enough after sex. since I have hypospedia (sp?) he said it made it even more likely for something to be trapped in and cause the irritation. he prescribed me uretron, told me to keep it clean, and that i'd be fine.
4. I'm back home now, and it's been two weeks since the incident and 6 days since visiting the doc in
PR. Ive seen noticeable improvement, but I'm still a little tender and the "rawness" (for lack of a better term), while subsiding, is still present.
OK, so all of that said....should I be patient and await the recovery that's coming my way, or should I go see a local urologist for a second (almost 3rd) opinion?
thank you very very much.
