prolonged urine infection - Urology Message Board

hi all,i have had a urine infection now for over 6 weeks but the doctor does not seem to concerned about it.It was only noticed that i had it,becuase i was feeling very sore and achy (flu like) and they decided to take a urine sample,it was found from this i had a nasty infection,they gave me 5 days course of anti biotics,which i took,i was asked to go back 2 weeks later to give another urine sample which i did,and it showed protein in my urine ( high levels) they gave me nothing but said to hand in another sample in another 2 weeks and have some bloods tests so i did this the blood tests came back clear but urine still had high levels of protein,and i was given another 5 day course of anitbiotcs,i have been told again in 2 weeks to give another sample,but im so sick of this.i am in constant pain,not through urinating but the aches and pains in my whole body,and around my back.i have had to take odd days off sick due to this which i cant afford as i dont get paid,and im only allowed so many days off every 6 months so im now facing disciplinary action due to being off sick with this.
has anyone else had this problem or any ideas what to do? should i see a diff doctor?
please help as i dont know how much longer i can take this.
ive been feeling so rundown and tired since i first had this,and me and my partner did try sexual intercourse but it hurt too much
something just doesnt feel right but i dont know what,but the doctor doesnt seem concerned.

ive been having reoccurring urine infections for the past month now. i havent been feeling that much pan but i have noticed blood in the urine and it wasnt even my period time. at the beginning they gave me some antibiotics but i dont remember the name and the last time and this time they have given me macrobid. but i have been feeling soooo tired lately like all i wanna do is sleep

and im getting tired of going back and forth to the doctor all the time bc of this and its starting to concern me. i think the next step is that im gonna b going for some ultrasounds to make sure everything is ok with my system and im really nervous about it all. so rite now im just really worried and i havent even been sleeping well

Are you seeing a Urologist? Someone who specializes in urinary problems? If not, I'd ask to be referred to one ASAP. If you are already seeing a urologist, I would see another one for a second opinion. Any good doctor will be concerned about a prolonged UTI because it can lead to kidney problems. I hope you get the help you deserve. UTI's are very frustrating.
