My Prostate or Bowel? HELP!!!!!!!!!!
Hi All, Wonder if anyone can Offer advise before I lose my mind.
I am a 45 yo male with my # 1 symptom being "bladder pain" that started last summer. I have been repeatedly tested for UTI bacterial infection always negative. My PSA was .33 lat September. I finally went to a urologist who said I had a "somewhat" enlarged prostate, but felt no nodes or anything that would indicate a disease process. I had no further testing done at the time. He assumed the symptom was from an enlarged prostate, even though I don't have the other symptoms, no burning when urinating, or hesitation when urinating. I refused the Ultrasound of the bladder & prostate at that time.
Since last Sepember I have been taking Saw Palmetto, & the pain gradually got better about 90% pain free.
One day late April of this year I got SEVERE bladder pain & GI symptoms started, Diarrhea that lasts for days even after taking Immodium.
Being that the GI symptoms were so severe I went to a Gastroenteroligist. The only test done so far was a CT scan with pelvis. EVERYTHING looked normal even though they were convinced that I had diverticulitis, which I do not.
In my recent blood work my white count Neutrophils were elevated, which the doctors didn't seem concerned with.
The CT scan revealed nothing.
So now I feel lost. I have bladder pain worst symptom....feel listless, hopeless...have a rumbling stomach, from upper to lower GI tract, & diarrhea 2x a week. I was given Cipro when the GI stuff started & that did nothing.
I have maintained my weight I can force myself to eat but feel going for more GI tests is wasting my time when the pains are more urologic.
The internest & Gatro Docs are hung up on doing more GI tests, Colonoscopy first.
Has anyone had symptoms like this & what was their outcome???
I would appreciate any inpute how someone else would proceed being that my internest thinks it's a GI problem & my biggest problem is baldder pain.
Thanks for any ideas anyone may have!! Scott
