cipro doesn't work

I started with UTI symptoms a week ago. The next day I went to a clinic to get something for it and they gave me a 3 day course of cipro. Then but the cipro didn't do much, just a little bit. So I made an appointment with my doctor and got another 3 day course of cipro. I was starting to feel a little better until today, when I stopped my 2nd 3 day course of Cipro. Now the burning and feeling of frequency is right back.

I'm used to getting UTI's about once a year, during the heat of the summer when I'm outside a lot. I would take a 10-day course of cipro and that would be that. Well I was recently out of the country when a UTI hit me in August. I got a 3 day course of cipro but I could still feel symptoms, so I got another 3 day course and I felt better.

What should I do? Do you think the bacteria is resistant to the antibiotic now? Should I go back to my doctor and have them give me more cipro and see what happens? Should I go to a urologist?

I hate feeling like this!

Re: cipro doesn't work

You should absolutely go to a urologist - could be a number of problems. Could also be muscular and not an infection at all - ask for a culture and ask them to palpate your pelvic muscles to if they are painful.

Re: cipro doesn't work

for me ive always had to take two weeks worth of antibiotics to get mine to clear if its a bad one sometimes its several days before i feel better could be you need to take them longer or you just need a different antibiotic then cipro every person is different and what works for one may not work for another.
