what is considered a large kidney stone

my daughter was told her kidney stone is 8cm. do you think she will be able to pass this without any kind of surgery

Are you sure it's not millimeters? I've heard that a stone over 4 or 5 mm will not be able to pass. The largest stone I've had thus far has been 10 mm and I've needed Lithotripsy to blast it.
