surgery for urinary reflux... - Urology Message Board

Hi. My 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with reflux when she was 1. She's had the Deflux procedure done twice and now the reflux is worse than ever. She has damage to at least one kidney, but I do not know to what extent, all I know is that one kidney is smaller than it should be. Anyway, she is being sent to a children's hospital 3 hours away for ureteral reimplantation surgery. Does anyone know anything about this and what I can expect?

Also, does anyone what effects a damaged kidney could have on her in the future. I will not know the extent of the damage until January 31.

I had reimplantion surgery 40 years ago. I have 3 children, 2 grandchildren, basicly lived a normal life until I turned 40. Now the damaged kidney causes me pain and I may have it removed. The left kidney actully is extra large and works fine. My surgery was a long time ago and I did fine. I'm sure things have improved a lot in the medical field. Good luck with the surgery.

Thank you for your reply. I didn't know they had been doing that surgery so long, I'm glad it worked well fo ryou! I am sorry you are having problems now, I hope everything turns out well for you!
