My doctor has gone away on vacation for a couple of weeks and I was hoping I could ask the forums thoughts on two subjects please.
First I am a 49 year old woman who is in great health (at least I hope so). I found out that I have a wee bit of blood in my urine during my last checkup. Now I know the week before I had this test I was taking a lot of advil to help my back that I had injured at work the week before. I have heard that meds often can cause blood in urine. Does Advil fall into this category and is it possible that is what happened?
One other thing, I have no pain at all around my kidneys but I do have some pain under my right shoulder blade. Is it possible for my kidneys to be infected and I am feeling the pain away from them?
It would be great to hear from someone that has experienced blood in urine and to find out what caused this.
you mentioned that you hurt your back? often after injuries it is normal for some blood to be present in your urine. this would also explain the pain in your shoulder blade. i would assume if your urine was being checked for blood, it was also checked for bacteria, and if that came back negative, you probably don't have a kidney infection.
I am 43 and have had blood in the urine since I was in my mid 20's. Most times it is microscopic. Last time it was moderate but I had a bladder infection. I had all kinds of tests done and all negative. The specialist told me that I may just have a tiny hole in the bladder lining where red blood cells get in. I can't even see it. Only they see through a microscope.
