| kidney pain and urine odor
Regularly throughout the night I am awakened by my kidneys hurting. If I get up and use the restroom, the pain subsides enough for me to go back to sleep, but not completely. I have a kind of dull ache in my kidneys all the time which is worse and almost unbearable when my bladder is full. My urine smells and could give the smell from an old-fashioned outhouse a run for its money if not leave the outhouse smell in the dust. In the past I would periodically have this problem if I had to take prednisone for my asthma, but the problem would go away within a few days of ending the prednisone. However, I haven't taken prednisone for years. The current problem started after I had a hysterectomy 12/06 during which my bladder was "nicked." I've had repeated bladder infections since then and was finally referred by the PCP to a urologist around a year ago. In February, he got rid of a kidney stone, but the problem hasn't gone away. HELP! Is it time to find a new urologist? Is this something I should just learn to live with? Any ideas?
