Re: A question. How to dr.'s test for UTI vs Chlamydia?
Hello Mary Lou! Hope by now you are feeling better and have found a definite answer to your question, but I did read your question and thought I would post a reply just in case you were still wondering. There is a seperate test done for chlamydia that is a vaginal swab and must be sent in to a lab for the test to be completed. As far as I know, unless some new development has come about, a test for chlamydia must be specifically asked for and is not just automatically detected in a urine analysis test. Also, my understanding is that there are specific anitbiotics that are given for the treatment of chlamydia. Most antibiotics will NOT treat chlamydia. I know that zithromax, arithromyacin (not correctly spelled), z-pack, etc. are antibiotics given to treat chlamydia. I do know that chlamydia is very simple to treat, just a quick round of antibiotics and it's gone. However, it must not be left untreated or it can lead to some very serious conditions such as pelvic inflammatory disease. Hope this has helped you some! Take Care!!
