| urethritis or urethral irritation?
I'm a 26 y/o healthy male in a monogamous relationship
About 3 weeks ago I noticed that I was having a *very* slight discharge coming from my penis. I only noticed when I looked at my underwear so I really can't be sure when it started. I went to the doctor a couple days later and was tested for STDs (results were negative) and my urine sample came out "clean". When I called to get my results the "assistant" told me that it is probably either Urethritis or an irritation. I didn't think to question her at the time but if my urine sample came back clean doesn't that mean I can rule Urethritis out? Also, the doc prescribed me the one dose of Azithromycin, which is used to treat Urethritis. So 2 1/2 weeks after the medication (I read that it should help in 1-2), I have noticed a slight decrease in the discharge, but it has not completely subsided. I do want to elaborate how minor the discharge is; I probably wouldn't even notice it most of the time if I wasn't aware of it. I notice it the most in the morning when I wake up and there are a couple of very small yellowish marks on my underwear. I rarely feel any sort of stinging/itching at the tip of my penis and 9 times out of 10 there is no burning when I am urinating. I'm also not feeling like I have to urinate any more than usual.
I do have a monogamous sexual partner who has shown no symptoms of anything.
Basically, I'm wondering if all that I have is a simple urethral "irritation" that may have been caused by masturbation. I have only ever masturbated 3-4 times per week, so certainly not excessively. I also didn't masturbate or have sex for 8 days after taking the medication. I still have not had sex, but have masturbated a few times. Could this masturbation be delaying the healing? Are there other things I could be doing that could be preventing recovery?
Thanks in advance. I'm trying to save myself another copay, especially if all they are going to tell me is that I have a simple irritation.
