bilateral orchiectomy

Hi everyone,
A couple of questions regarding bilateral orchiectomies.
1 - I heard that the operation is simple and you can be home within a day or two, is this true?
2 - how soon after the operation will i be able to have sex?
3 - will i lose my libido and ability to be aroused immediately after the operation? if not how long before I do lose it?
4 - i've heard that one can start to develop pms if you don't start taking hormones, is this true?
5 - what is the most commonly prescribed hrt?
6 - how long after the operation must i start on hrt to avoid pms, or putting on weight or breast enlargement?
Thank you for any help.
Sincerely
T

Re: bilateral orchiectomy

Big step.

Can I ask why?

Truth of the matter is it will depend on the surgeon and skill.

I have had one out, through the scrotum. The swelling lasted about 3 months. I wish I had known that an inguinal approach is better usually for recovery time as well as completeness of the procedure. I still have pain from the cords and other tissues which were not cut out with the scrotal approach.

There are a few on here who can answer the HRT questions, as far as I understand the biggest issue is the pre-surgery levels. It seems that levels are very personal at too much will give teenager type urges and not enough can lead to extremely low energy levels.

Sex after the surgery, swelling etc. Every time I had surgery down (total of 4 times so far) there I wanted to check that it all still worked so I from experience 1 week was doable but painful. Depends on where the stitches are.

T has a quick half life. So without the HRT it is pretty fast from my research. Depends on previous levels though.
