| Bladder Infection, Frequent/Urgent Urination, Discharge, and Fibromyalgia
I'm so glad to have found this forum. I'm a 33 year old female and have had the following symptoms for the past 10 years :
frequent/urgent urination
painful burning sensation during urination especially after intercourse
abnormal yellow or white discharge not cottage cheese or smelly
light bleeding when not on period
low back pain
In 2005 or so, a urologist diagnosed me with an overactive bladder problem but did not try to resolve it (prescribed me Uridet which didn't help obviously).
Now I realized my bladder problem might actually be the cause of my fibromyalgia which I've been suffering for these past 8 years since a back injury at work in 2003. After googling on the internet, I decided to try drinking cranberry juice, and to my surprise, my fibromyalgia symptoms improved about 70%! I also felt the bacteria leaving my body (abnormal discharge plus pain/itching near the opening, as I didn't drink enough water to completely flush them out).
I have an appointment tomorrow to see my family doctor. I was going to ask her to prescribe me bactrum or macrodantum which is an antibiotic required to remove the remaining bacteria off my bladder wall. I'm wondering if she would prescribe it to me without a urologist (my appointment to see another urologist is 2 months away). Also, I'm wondering what else I should ask her. Does a urologist test for STD's also? I've been seeing her a lot already these days with my current other health issues (see my profile). I've brought this topic up a few times before I knew about the cranberry juice, and each time they think I don't have a bladder infection before my urine tests come out negative. I was diagnosed with yeast infection a few times though.
I do not drink or smoke. And other than a previous instant noodle/restaurant food diet, and lack of exercise, I would like to say I live a relatively healthy lifestyle.
