Recurring UTI's - PROBLEM FINALLY RESOLVED. PLEASE READ THIS, IT MAY BE HELPFUL!!!!

Hi there,

I have posted many threads and replied on other peoples threads because I suffer from Recurring Chronic UTI's for over a year now.

I know how discouraging it is. I have seen over 10 general doctors and they all diagnosed me with cystitis UTI's and most of them even told me that I always get the infections because of sex.

They put me on 5 different antibiotics with NO LUCK! They always come back. They even prescribed antibiotics to take for 6 months straight and I was still getting them. IT'S RIDICULOUS!!!!!

I saw specialists, Gynecologists and Urologists. They did many blood tests, pap tests and the urologist didn't even bother looking into my problem as he thought I was a young woman that probably has too much sex and he insulted me by saying that I am too young to have complications.

I never gave up, WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T GIVE UP!

I got another reference to see a second urologist and this one was wonderful and knew what he was talking about.

We finally found the problem!

LADIES, your recurring UTI's may be caused by a cyst that is situated in your URETHRA which causes all your complications. This condition is called Urethral Diverticulum. Read about it and try seeing if you can relate to this condition.

To get rid of the cyst the doctor most do surgery and cut the cyst off so it doesn't grow back!

If you feel like your URETHRA is blocked and if you notice that you have URETHRAL DISCHARGE such as puss and blood, please see another UROLOGIST until they physically examine you!!!

I am diagnosed with Urethral Diverticulum; the Urologist simply felt my URETRHA with his finger and noticed that I have a big lump inside.

I am thinking that other women out there may be suffering from the same condition and I truly hope that all of you find a solution to the problem as soon as possible!

I am now waiting on my operation date and I am pretty nervous and at the same time RELIEVED to know that all my problems will end after surgery is done!!!

I will keep you guys updated on how the surgery goes and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE CONTINUE seeing doctors until they find a solution.

Good luck to ALL of you that are suffering with the same problem that I have!

myria,
how did your surgery go? i have recurring uti also but it may be the sling they put in when i had my bladder tacked up. no one seems to know what the problem is. i am so tired of this. i have had recurring infections since august of 2011. i have been to a urologist and 2 gynocologists. no one seems to know what the problem is. they keep giving me antibiotics. i am at the end of my rope. if someone could help me, that would be great. tell me what i can do next.

Hi Catmandu,

Do NOT give up. I am still waiting for the doctor to call me and give an appointment for surgery.

You need to go back to the doctor and tell them that you've had it! Exagerate if you need to until they listen. Tell them how much UTI's you've been getting and that you can't LIVE on antibiotics.

Ask for a new referral to see another Urologist for a second opinion. This is exactly what I have done.

I complained and got to see a second Urologist. The doctor verified me physically and came to have found the cyst with his finger.

It sounds so simple, but it has been over a year now that I am suffering and doctors never checked properly.

Some doctors know more than others as well, so sometimes if you land on one that has A LOT of knowledge they can find things others wouldn't.

I am still in pain since I am waiting for a surgery date but at least my problem will be fixed.

Hi all,

My surgery was a small incision made in my urethra to extract a puss filled cyst called ( urethral diverticulum). It was done on Monday June 4th. We are now Friday June 8th and I am feeling great!

My surgery went better than I thought. I had the choice to get put to sleep with gas or to get an epidural.

I was so nervous and stressed I was crying and I felt like being sick. When I got in the operating room, the nurses and doctors comforted me and they checked my vital signs every minute !

My anastologist gave me a needle to freeze my arm so I didn`t feel a thing when she installed the IV that I was so afraid of. She gave me a dose of gravol as well as a relaxant.

When she gave me the epidural I didn`t feel anything since I was so relaxed on what she had given me. The drugs are very powerful and it was just like I was put to sleep but I was still awake! Amazingly surprising !

The operation lasted 45 minutes. It was FREEZING in there to make sure no germs and bacteria stay alive !

Then I was brought to the recovery room and I stayed there for 1 hour. The nurse put warm blankets on me because I was froozen and once I was stable she brought me back to the room I was in with my mom !

The nurse taking care of me made sure my pressure was good and stable and once I urinated I was aloud to go home. I got out of the hospital 5 hours later !

The first time I urinated it was only blood coming out but the nurse had warned me that it was normal...

I had 1 week off of work ordered from my doctor and 7 days of antibiotics to take.

The three first days it hurt while urinating it was really sensitive and my back felt really stiff because of the epidural.

Now I feel fine but my urethra is extremely itchy and I have stitches that are going to melt soon. I think that I am healing very well and I am happy that it is finally done.

I have an appointment with my urologist in 3 weeks for a check up!

Hi all.. Just to chime in here with a similar experience and medical hx.. I saw a urologist for recurrent UTIs.. A pelvic Ultrasound showed a ovarian cyst that was leaning on my bladder. We were hopeful that the surgical removal would lead to some relief of my uti recurrence.. But no such luck. I got the surgery in early 2011, and have continued to get UTIs every couple of months, always related to intercourse. I can go months with sex, and not getting one.. So I've just lived knowing it can strike any day. I take all the precautions I can. The low dose antibiotic after sex started to effect my breathing so I've been researching herbal, natural ways to prevent it. Completely healthy and in early 20s, otherwise. Hope your surgery yields better results!

So far I've decided to eliminate coffee completely and try echinacea and golden root .. Fingers crossed

Thanks! I'll give that a try, too. Took a UVA Ursi tablet yesterday as I'm just getting over a UTI treated w/ antibiotics. Heard good things about marshmallow root as well as D mannose. They are all worth a shot since I'm cutting out my macrobid treatment

Hi I'm 21 and I had the same thing. I've been having recurrent UTIs since age 15. However all my symptoms would be of UTI and urine came back clear. I was finally diagnosed this may after seeing doctors for years. I had my surgery two weeks ago. I had to wear a catheter with urine bag for two weeks post op but it wasn't as bad as the pain of the cyst. Glad it's over. Mine was large enough that she scraped it all off and my doctor is pretty confident it will not return. Good luck to all of you who are still suffering.
Please mention it to your doctor because for me it was just ruled out cause I was too young to have it (usually seen in women in 40s and 50s).

Much needed help

Good Afternoon Ladies,

I need help and I am desperate... I am 22 and I have been having recurrent UTI'S since I was 14. Now, it seems that nothing they give me seems to be working anymore for the UTI. I was taken to the emergency room last Saturday due to terrible pain in my ovaries, due to my CYST... There were 2 cyst found, and I had only known of 1 that had been there but now is growing. The hospital told me it wasn't a "tumor" so I had nothing to be worried about ( seems that I should never have anything to worry about, as long as it is not a dying cause). I cannot fully work out due to the pains I get from these cyst ( but It is normal says doctors). I have been getting terrible ovarian pains this past week and they dont go away. This Saturday my body decides to wake me up at 2am with a terrible UTI... I sat in my toilet (no sleep) for about 8 hours, drinking all the water AZO pills, I can intake.. Till i took myself to the hospital and they once again just prescribed me antibiotics and if i wasn't getting better to get admitted... I don't know what else to do but I cannot keep dealing with this pain and people making it out to be as if it is NOTHING. I do not know what else to do. IF you ladies could please help... it'll be greatly appreciated..

I have also seen specialist and they have told me to just monitor the cyst...
