Unhappy Trouble Urinating for weeks Scared

Please can someone give me some hope?.

I've been to the doctors office several times in less than 6 months. Switch doctors because one told me I needed to see a counselor because my anxiety/depression.

For the last 3-4 months I've had issues urinating. It all started with constipation but all of a sudden I was having issues urinating. Hesitant, would not start right away but no other issues then.

It then turned into an UTI. Fixed with Cipro, now my vas-deferens veins swell after urination. Dr gave me Terazosin, no improvement. Went back and now was told to increase dosage to 5mg.

Two weeks later I have a swollen perineum even though is not really painful I feel it when sit down and cannot sit over long periods because of discomfort.

Swollen groin but not painful.

Can't urinate normally. Hesitant, sudden stops and must restart. Sometimes just dribble. Feels like muscles have no control or don't want to let go. Feels like something is stopping it.

Light lower abdominal pain. Discarded constipation as I now go regularly without meds.

Frequent need to urinate just to dribble specially at night. Can't sleep.

Emailed Dr today no response. Last time "finger test for prostate checked out. Ultrasound on my testicles show OK, only small cyst. I'm starting to get scared. No family.

Taking Terazosin 5mg daily. Prostitis?

No. I am waiting for a reply from another Doctor as I can only see a Urologist as a referral. My current doctor has not replied to my request to see one so I'm dumping him. I will wait until Monday to see If I can schedule an appointment with this other doctor.

you must see a urologist, the family doctor or GP is useless.

Re: Trouble Urinating for weeks Scared

Yes, and I still have them. Sorry for the late reply I've been in and out seeing the doctor. He refuses to send me to the urologist. Today I found out I have a UTI. I'll keep monitoring the thread. The Constipation is slowly getting better by drinking more water and eating more fiber. But the rest is still the same. And to answer your question regarding the rectum. Yes. I was told to try top train myself how to urinate again. I'm trying...

Re: Trouble Urinating for weeks Scared

can you see another doctor ??
doctors know very little about urology.
The problem is when these guys think they know
alot when they are not specialists.\
One doctor almost punctured my eardrum taking
out something, an ear plug that was stuck.

In the end , he sent me to a ear nose and throat guy who
had a vacume machine that took it out in seconds without
pain and bleeding.

Doctors are not smart... all they know about are the general ailments like
colds, high BP, etc

Re: Trouble Urinating for weeks Scared

I agree your Dr is not handling this appropriately and you need a new one, then urologist. I would ask new Dr to order a prostatic ultrasound. You have pretty typical symptoms of an enlarged prostate, even though your previous Dr. thought it was ok by exam. Prostatitis makes one feel sick, like feverish and fluish. It will cause WBC in excess in urine, so if your UTI does not clear up, then prostatitis may be a consideration. Enlargement (benign)of prostate is very common and can lead to UTI from obstruction and poor emptying of bladder. Some Drs like to check a PSA blood test yearly as well to screen for prostate cancer, but that should not be done when prostatitis is present, as you will get an elevation which then makes everyone nervous. Telling you to retrain yourself to pee is an insult and I'd get away from that doc fast!

Re: Trouble Urinating for weeks Scared

Thank you all for your support. I will give this doctor just one day as he already gotten my test results. I'm waiting to hear from hear about which antibiotics he needs me to take. I waited 2 days to hear from him. If I don't hear from him by noon I will contact the hospital and make a complaint. Then I will change my Doctor and hopefully I will finally see the urologist. I will post anything new later. Hugs!

Re: Trouble Urinating for weeks Scared

I just came back from the urologist. I finally got my doctor to refer me after getting a second UI. According to the urologist I have prostitis. Was given Cipro and was told to continue the Terazosin. She also told me to ejaculate more as it keeps the prostate clear. She also checked my prostate and took a urine sample after massaging it. Ladybud you were right, it does make you feel sick with flu like symptoms. I hope this is taken cared of. But she assured me there was nothing to worry about and if there was anything that came up in the urine test she would do additional testing. I will post anything that's new. Thank You All!
