| Tetanus Odds, How fast does the vaccine work?
Cut my thumb on bottom of a recliner about t weeks ago, washed, disinfected and went to Dr. to have it looked at. I did not have a tetanus shot on file and was overdue for it, I did get the vaccine then and there and was told that the cut was not major , not dirty, not infected and the odds of getting tetanus for it where .16 in 10 million. What I don't understand is how fast after the shot is given are you protected? how can a Dr. tell just by looking at a cut? and What is considered a tetanus prone cut or injury. People cut, slice, stab and crush them self every day, yet there are only 30 cases a year in the us for tetanus. Anybody know if a minor cut of 1/4th inch long and 1/16th inch deep would be considered a tetanus threat?
