TDAP Vaccine as an Adult

My doctor in the course of regular exam advised me to get the TDAP vaccine. He said adults should have it once. The thing is, I don't remember if I had it. If I did at all it would have been in my 20s possibly close to 30 years ago and I don't remember. If somehow I did have it, will it hurt me to get it again? Also, I read that there is something called a Booster for those who had it, should I be getting that?

He said that there's a resurgence of these diseases and all adults should be vaccinated. Any thoughts on this? Is there anything I should know about it or any reason not to get it? I'm pretty sure my parents had me vaccinated as a kid especially if school required it but don't think I've had any adult vaccinations.

Your doctor should be able to draw blood from you to see if you were vacinated. The antibodies would show up in the blood draw...

If not, get revacinated. It wont hurt you; and its better to be safe than to be sorry in my own opinion. Many jobs require proof that you have had this vacination; and getting it again will give you that proof.
