| Re: Tetanus
For adults, the typical tetanus shot is a combination Tetanus/Diptheria shot (Td). The new tetanus shot for adolescents and adults needing a booster is a combination Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis (Tdap) shot due to the resurgence of Pertussis because the protection from the childhood DTaP given around 7 years of age wanes after several years. The new shot is given when a booster is needed and then you go back to getting the Tetanus/Diptheria (Td) shot from then on, once every ten years. (For children, the DTaP shot is often scheduled along with other shots/boosters such as Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Polio, Measles, Meningitis or Flu and the HPV shot for females.)
