tetnus vaccination

I had a tetnus shot 5 days ago. The first day went ok. Second day I had a red spot about 2 inches in diameter and sore. By night fall the red area was larger & I had a fever of 102. Third day the red area was 5" by 4", hot, hard as a rock, itched and had tiny blisters which turned into larger blisters later that evening again with fever 102. Fourth day the red, hot, hard area is now 8" by 6" and the redness is spreading down my arm, still had fever 102. Fifth day I finally get in to see my dr and he gave me a powerfull antibiotic because by this time the hard area was the infected area, still had blisters & he gave me alergy pills & told me to put ice on it. No fever today but because I had fever of 102 for 3 days, I'm pretty weak and have an upset stomach. I did call my dr on day 3 but got the physian on call & he said "not" to put ice on it. Tomorrow will be day 6 and we'll see what happens now with the 2 medicines.

Re: tetnus vaccination

Wow sounds like you've had a rough few days I hope it improves soon. I had to get a shot several yrs ago & mine hurt for a few days but not too bad. I did get a hard knot that remained for about a week.

Re: my tetnus vaccination

Got in to see the dr like I said before. Took both medicines for 4 days and things started to get much better. After about 6 days I was able to lift my arm without pain. It is now 13 days since I saw the dr and just about everything is gone except a small hard area about the size of a quarter around the shot. He put it in my chart to never have another Tetnus shot again. I bet if I could have taken the temp of my arm it would have been 110 All is going well now. The ice really did help a whole lot.
Love to all reading my report.

Talking Re: my tetnus vaccination

Here it is now April 6th,2008 and my arm in still improving. The hard area where the shot was given is now the size of a dime. I'm looking forward to my over seas trip (that's why I got the shot in the first place) and having a great time.

Re: my tetnus vaccination

What do they recommend you do now that you cannot get the tetanus shot?
