I just got out of the hospital a week ago after being admitted for a second time for bi-lateral pneumonia. The PA brought up the idea of getting a pneumonia vaccine (this is my second fight with it in 2 years) and the flu vaccine every year to try to stop it from happening again (I also had bronchitis really bad 2.5 years ago). The pulmonologist mentioned nothing about getting these. Should I look into it, or just worry about it later?
My Pulmonologist highly recommends a flu shot and the pneumonia shot every year. He made the flu shot part of my asthma plan. If you are allergic to horses, as I am, then you should avoid the pneumonia shot.
I would certainly recommend contacting your Pulmonologist to see if they are right for you.
