Flu shot in your area

The flu shot in my area cannot be found right now. Luckily, my family got our shot in September, but I have many friends who are looking to get a shot for their family and can't even find it. No doctors or clinics have the shot available.

This is so odd since they talk about protecting yourself against the flu, yet, there are no shots around! Was there not as much made this year? Are companies focusing on the swine flu shot instead???

Anyone else noticing this where they live?

Re: Flu shot in your area

Seasonal flu vaccines seem to be readily available around here. But the 2009 novel H1N1 flu vaccine is hard to find and in short supply.

In the US, try checking Walgreens, Safeway, and WalMart stores (the ones with pharmacies) to see if they have the vaccines available.

I think you misunderstood me - there are NO seasonal shots in my area. NONE! You can check out county web site and you won't find any. So odd!

Re: Flu shot in your area

Where do you live? Generally speaking, I mean! Your location only mentions USA.

The www.FLU.gov website has a seasonal (and H1N1) vax locator map.

PS . . . Aha! I just read a newspaper article saying some Georgia counties gave out their Flu vax in Sept and are now in short supply. (scattered shortages in Ohio + Illinois too)

"Renee Swisher, clinical secretary at the MOVHD, assists with the flu shot clinics. She said at a clinic on Oct. 6 the department gave out 270 doses of the seasonal flu vaccine in one hour."

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, I've seen the long lines of folks waiting on the news.

Re: Flu shot in your area

Yes, I used that exact web site and there isn't any in our county offering it right now. We also have a county web site and it lists they will let people know when it is available again. I am in Pennsylvania. The 2 counties around us have the shot so my friend will just have to travel a bit.
