According to the information that I have read, those doses containing an adjuvent are recommended for people in the "at risk" category because the adjuvent boosts their immune response and therefore increases the effectiveness of the vaccine. The unadjuvenated doses are apparently just as effective for people who do not have a medical condition that puts then "at risk".
In Europe, the vaccine is currently only being offered to "at risk" people so the adjuvenated version has been supplied to doctors only from the start of this month.
