DTaP effective after 3 doses

I have read on several locations that after the first 3 vaccines of DTaP (2, 4, and 6 months). I have also been told my a nurse that this vaccine will protect my daughter from Whooping cough.

I'm concerned cause my daughter was exposed to it. Should I have her start an antibiotic just as a precaution or can I trust the vaccine?
