Received vaccination but not immune to hep B

Hello,

I posted this in the hepatitis board but thought I'd post this here as well for more feedback.

Recently I had to receive a titer for hep B and to my surprise, the result stated that I am not immune to hep B. I received the 3-shot vaccination about 11 years ago. My doctor recommended that I repeat the 3 shots.

I'm just a bit concerned and had a few questions:
-Is this harmful at all for me to receive the 3-shot vaccination again?
-If the titer results happened to be inaccurate and I am actually immune, would it be harmful for me to receive the vaccination again?
-Can you actually become infected with hep B via repeat vaccination?

Thanks in advance.

No more risk than your initial vaccination, assuming there are no changes in your medical situation that may affect that (e.g. if you somehow developed an allergy to yeast or some other vaccine component between then and now).

No. It is made from yeast genetically modified to produce a portion of the virus (the surface antigen) to stimulate the immune system to recognize it, not a complete virus.

Information from the US CDC:
