Re: Thailand vaccinations

As with any foreign travel, you need to first make sure all of your routine vaccinations are up to date - which would be your Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis, Measles/Mumps/Rubella and Polio series. As far as additional vaccinations recomended for travel to Thailand, the Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Typhoid are recomended.( If you are planning to visit rural farming areas, a Japanese Encephalitis vaccination is recomended. ) You can probably get the Hepatitis A and B vaccinations together in a combination vaccine. There would be three doses at 0, 2 and 6 months so make sure to get started on your vaccinations early. The Typhoid vaccination is a single dose and is good for aproximately 3 years. A current vaccination for influenza is also a good idea. The Hepatitis A & B and Typhoid vaccinations are given in the upper arm with few side effects, if any.
