Tdap vaccine - how often?
With the resurgence of whooping cough, my husband and I just want to make sure that we are current on our vaccines. We took the Tdap shot about two years ago. I thought that booster shot was fine for about 10 years but I saw any article saying we have to get it every year? Does anyone know how often I need to take it. Thanks.

The information that I have seen is that a pertussis booster for adults is one time. I.e. when getting Td (tetanus + diptheria) vaccine every 10 years, substitute one such Td vaccine with Tdap (tetanus + diptheria + pertussis) vaccine, then continue with Td vaccine every 10 years.

It is influenza vaccines that are commonly given every year, because influenza mutates frequently.
