My office is offering the Influenza Vaccination and I am allergic to sulfa can you tell me if it is in the vacine?

No, it does not. Thimerasol and egg allergies could be an issue but not sulfa. They usually have you sign a release that states you don't have an allergy to these two things.

Good I want to take the vacine but I am highly allergic to sulfa so that helps to know thatit is not in this vaccine. I'm taking your word for it, hopefully taking your word won't end up killing me.

You can ask the health professional who gives the injections and ask for a copy of the information on the serum. It will state what you need to know.

BTW, All drugs that contain sulfa related components list a potential side effect of that. In fact, just because one is allergic to sulfa drugs ( a certain family of antibiotics) does not mean that one will have problems with all drugs which show a sulfa caution. I am allergic to sulfa antibiotics but usually tolerate other drugs with a sulfa caution with nothing more than an upset digestive tract - albeit an often severe issue.
