Very sick after flu shot

Can someone tell me what possibly could be happening? I looked online and everything I found basically says that side effects from the shot are rare and if you have them it's usually site soreness and low grade fever. I had the flu shot last Wednesday and I've been very sick. Extreme fatigue and malaise, nausea and weakness when standing. I already had issues with fatigue yes, but not to this magnitude. I'm worried, is this going to go away for sure and how long is it going to last. A cpl of friends told me to do a detox and I am going to. I've ordered it. No way I can drive any where this sick. I guess I just need reassurance that this will get better.

Hi,

My husband and I get the Flu-Injection every year and have never had a reaction so far.
I have heard that some people may get a mild version after but its pretty rare.
It's possible you were carrying the virus without any symptoms as it was in it's early stage and the F.I was just a coincidence.
Also at this time of the year there are many Viruses around that can have similar to Flu symptoms.

It's a killed virus so it cannot give you the flu. If oyu had been exposed within the two weeks after getting the shot you could get the flu. It takes that long to be effective.

I had my flu shot last Friday and since Sunday, have been exhausted. This fatigue has been extreme and different from just "feeling tired". My pharmacist told me to take tylenol and ibuprofen to remedy the situation. I took them on Wednesday and I had a bit more energy, but repeated it on Thursday with no relief. I've never had any reactions from flu shots before. Sure hope this passes soon....I've had to give up a whole week of my life!!!!

You can't get actual flu from the flu virus as it's a dead virus. However the way it works is that it makes your body produce antibodies to protect against a real flu attack. Some people have an adverse reaction to these antibodies which generally takes the form of extreme fatigue and muscle weakness. The good news is that this will pass.

Flu vaccine can cause illness, but its not common. Does it feel like an allergic reaction? Could be an egg allergy, since its made with eggs.
