I am a 30 year old male, in fairly good shape, who after taking a diet drug containing ephedra, and synephrine, developed heart palpatations. I took this suppliment for a little over a month, and felt great until the last week of taking them,when i felt a few skipps in my heart beat. I discontinued use. But since then i have developed worse palpatations, bad enough to put off work for two weeks. They have begun to subside a little but they are by no means gone. Its been a month now since discontinued use and i was wondering how long these side effects will last. I have had numerous doctor consults, EKG, Ecocardiogram, blood, and stress test all came out fine. I find during exercise i feel great, but at rest i get terrible ones.

What can i do, please help???

I use potassium and magnesium supplements. This works for me. You may have gotten low on these minerals from dieting.

Drugs make the thyroid work hard to rebalance the body chemistry, so that can take awhile, too.
Also, supplement with B 100 vitamins, daily.

Hey, I wouldn't worry about it. Get back to a healthy diet and any palpitations should go away. I took diet pills many many times and never had them, but I know of many folks at the gym that take them and have those side effects. You were pushing your system into overload similar to adrenal gland performance. If this does keep up after you get back to a NORMAL diet then see about getting blood test to measure your chemistry levels. A simple CBC and Chemistry panel will tell you this. Do NOT take K unless you are instructed to, this can cause cardiac problems if taken without consultation.

I've developed the same thing in the last 3 months, but I laid off fat burners a long time ago. It's probably an Atrial Flutter. Like a murmur. It's best you start aerobic exercise, and start taking a good multi-vitamin/mineral. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Many people have atrial fibrillations.
