Mike--
Ask your pharmacist for the May,2000 revised pharmaceutical insert on Accutane. Be sure it is the May-2000 one. It lists the condition you asked about along with other bone abnormalities, arthritis, bone density loss, calcification of tendons and ligaments.
The copy I received from a national foundation was 14 pages long of possible side effects associated with accutane use.
Of course it is in readable print---not the extremely small print of a pharmaceutical insert(that one is two and a fourth pages long). Also, just required by the FDA in Sept. 2000; A Medication Guide is required to be issued with the medication. The FDA has contacted the National Institutes of Health about conducting more research on Accutane in relation to how it effects the Central Nervous System and Brain. That was timely---its only been on the market for 18 years and has already caused enormous devastation of health in teens and young adults and some older adults who took it. They actually don't know how long it stays in the brain. Could be an indefinite time.
Also, there are medical abstracts about this along with a couple of medical letters.
There are several sites on this that discuss adverse effects linked to Accutane use and Accutane use in general scattered throughout the internet. |
