Post L-theanine

Has anyone heard of or taken L-theanine for anxiety. I heard it is really relaxing. It is made from green tea?...bride527

I take amino acid supplements in general, of which L-theanine is one. It comes from green tea and some mushrooms. I also drink some tea through out the day. Studies have been done to analyze it's safety, and it has apparently passed. Instead of spending money on one amino acid, why not get the complete complex? You'll get all kinds of benefits, like appetite control (whether you eat too much or too little), mood stabilizer, cravings buster, sleep aid, and many more. I'm always yakking about amino acids. They have done wonders for me and my daughter.

I am very interested to know what kind of amino acids you are taking. I really think I will add that to the list of vitamins I already take. I heard that the L-theanine is great for mild anxiety. (which is what i have).I would rather take that daily then rely on XANAX when needed. However is there an interaction with XANAX.?? (just in case I ever took both the same day) I know that you can't take Kava Kava along with XANAX. I will probably check with my pharmacist to make sure...thanks. bride527

Kava kava is an herb, and it's been under scrutiny lately as possibly being unsafe. I took Xanax awhile back, but it made me feel like a stone. I don't think there will be a reaction to Xanax and the aminos because amino acids are naturally in our bodies. Or to be more precise, some are, others we get naturally through our food intake.

If you go to the vitamin store or order online, get the complete complex of free form amino acids. Vitamin World (store and web) is very reasonable. Vitaglo is an online store that not only is cheap, but has free shipping. GABA, an amino, is nature's valium. L-Glutamine curbs cravings for sweets, and is good for the stomach. L-Tyrosine helps with energy. L-Carnitine helps with metabolism, etc. etc. So by taking the complete complex, it covers all the bases, since amino acids are the building blocks of protein, which our bodies need to operate efficiently.

Before I read your post, i called my pharmacist and asked if I could take L-theanine along with XANAX she said no. I didnt'aske about the amino acids that you mentioned. My concern is if I start taking the amino's and need to take a XANAX is it okay? that is what I am wondering. I have heard from many reliable people that amino acids will help level out my anxiety. Were you taking the XANAX while you were taking the amino's. thanks for you response.bride527
