Question Whey Protein supplement...

Let me explain my daily nutrition plan (i eat 5 meals a day), I'm 18 by the way:
*Morning 7:30am(before school,college)- orange juice, 1/2 cup grape nuts cereal w/ 2% milk
*After school breakfast 11:00am- 2 eggs, slice whole wheat toast, bowl of oatmeal w/ raisins
*Lunch 2pm- turkey/chicken sandwich 98% fat free meat, whole wheat bread, light mayo, mustard, lettuce, pickles, pretzels on side and raisins
*work out 4pm
*Shake 5:30pm- orange juice, milk, berries, bananas, mango, egg, carrot
*Dinner- varies (still healthy foods though, meats and vegetables)

What i am looking to do is add Whey Protein powder to my shakes after i work out but first i'd like to know if what im eating throughout the day is the right choice of foods and will adding this protein supplement help me gain muscle mass? I work out every day, Mon Wed and Fri I do upper body - Tues and Thurs cardio to keep my legs in shape and i do situps and pushups everyday. Im trying to get my arms and chest bigger and will working out three times a week and taking Whey help me to get them bigger?

I started this nutrition plan about a month ago and have noticed a gain in size on my arms but im starting to also focus on working my chest more. Is Whey powder safe? I mean the canister says its 100% natural and safe but is it REALLY? The people at the stores will usually tell you what you want to hear and give you the most expensive, what's a good brand? I looked into it online and whenever i search for it i get feedback from HIV/AIDS websites and i dont have HIV but i heard Whey was good for more protein.

Thumbs up

Whey protien is great, you will need a lot more than one serving a day though to build any real muscle, try at least one gram per pound of body weight per day for maximum results.

Hey, I'm a weight lifter, and I also takw whey protein. It's best to take a variety of different proteins throughout the day. I wouldn't advise taking one gram per pound of bodyweight of just whey protein cause that is too much of that type of protein, and it would get too expensive cause whey protein is expensive. Whey protein is the fastest absorabable protein, so it works best taking it right after lifting weights, along with a simple carb like dextrose or fruit juice, and water. You can take whey protein throuhout the day, just don't go too much over the recommended use on the container. And drink a lot of water, to flush excess protein out of your system, so it's not too hard on your kidneys. Good luck.

Hey dude
Look at this site, it has alot of good information, that might help you out. www.bodybuildingforyou.com www.sportsnutrition.com Yes whey protein is very safe but just like the other guys said drink alot of water, I drink about a gallon of water to flush my body out of any unnecessary stuff, but you'll need to increase you intake of protein, you might want to double if not match you body weight by your protein intake. Just so you know, you might wanna try Designer protein its expensive but its one of the best tasting podwer shakes out there.

I have used Whey protien (w/ branch chain amino acids) for several yrs as an addition to my daily diet. Of course it is safe & works just like any protien works. If you want to gain muscle mass i would suggest Whey plus BCAA and/or Creatine. To favor muscle building, also consider hormone or flavone supplementation because they will discourage catabalism and incourage anabolism. I purchased some Methoxyflavone just the other day, and the effects are certaily noticiable.
