Hi everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone knows any supplements that are good for your hair. I know nothing can really make your hair grow, but what vitamins/minerals support your hair? Thanks for any info.

It may be coincidence.... but when I started taking glucosamine chondroitin for joint pain, my fingernails and hair seemed to start getting stronger. My fingernails stopped breaking off as they got to the ends of my fingers, and my hair has exceeded it's previous natural limit by about 4 inches. So I assume that the hair is stronger, though it's kind of impossible to prove!
It takes a while to show results. If it is helping your fingernails then you should see a difference in a month or two. I've been taking it for 4 years now, long enough to notice that my hair no longer stops at my waist, but now I have to watch it when I sit down, or I sit on it!
About a year ago, I started to notice more hair in the shower drain then normal after a shower and that my hair was starting to get thinner. I started doing research on Vitamins and herbs and came up with three that I now take every day. Vitamin B6 (50mg per day) , Zinc ( 20-30 mg per day in addition to what is in my normal Multiple Vitamin ) and MSM (2000-3000 mg per day ) . My hairloss has now practically stopped. I also use Head and Shoulders Shampoo containing Zinc which is reported to be a DHT inhibitor. Excessive DHT is said to cause your hair to fall out.
Wow, thank you. My hair really does fall out like crazy, too. I get worried everytime I take a shower, lol! I need to start taking a multivitamin again FIRST I think, and then add in the recommended supplements.

Watch out with the B6 . Too much can actually be harmful . I read that the body can not tolerate more then 100mg per day. This is why I usually only take 50mg. but of all the vitamins I take, I think this one does the most good. Also, FYI , I noticed almost an immediate reduction in the amount of hair I lost everyday after starting on the Head and Shoulders Shampoo. Must be the Zinc it has in it.
Hmnn. I'm going to try the Head & Shoulders becaues I HATE the new formula of Aussie shampoos and conditioners I once loved. And besides, it's very annoying when you actually feel like you're getting somewhere with hair growth and then see it all going down and clogging the drain. Hehe.

hi,
I am 21 female, and have been experiencing an alarming amount of hair loss the past year. It's awful...my scalp is really noticeable no matter how I try to part my hair....
I was wondering, for the people who are using glucosamine chondroitin, does this work for hair growth have you found? How long does it take to notice a difference? Where do you get it? Finally, is it expensive?
