| Re: Supplements(not herbal) to enhance serotonin~
The following may be of some help to you. It's from the "User's Guide to Nutritional Supplements."
"Before Serotonin can be produced, your body needs to have enough tryptophan and magnesium. Here's how serotonin production works.
Tryptophan is an amino acid that gets into your brain where it is converted into serotonin. But first it needs to be changed into a chemical called 5-HTP (5-hydroxytryptophan). Then, 5-HTP needs helpers, mainly magnesium and vitamin B6.
These three nutrients, 5-HTP, magnesium, and vitamin B6 work together to help make serotonin, a neurotransmitter that carries messages throughout your brain, which effects your mood, sleep, and other body functions."
