Re: Maximum amount of B-12 to take?

I don't believe there is a maximum dosage limit on vitamin B-12. It is extraordinarily safe even in high amounts. No toxicity has ever been noted. But if you want to take extra B-12, it's best to accompany it with a B-complex to balance everything out. A B-complex will generally contain all the B vitamins, not just vitamins B-6 & B-12.

Re: Maximum amount of B-12 to take?

I take a vitamin B100 complex every morning and it has helped me so much. Did your doctor recommend a dosage? It is a combinaiton of folic acid and the other b vitamins, which help your body in so many ways. Also, I found out the hard way that if you are on birth control, or don't eat meat, you are more likely to have a b deficiency, so maybe that will help you. I started with 100 miligrams, switched to 50 miligrams, and then back to 100 because that works best for me. There is no real danger because they are water soluble vitamins. You should take a complex though because if you have too much of one b vitamin, then it throws off the balance of all other b vitamins and that could cause problems.

Re: Maximum amount of B-12 to take?

An article that I have from Prevention mag says 3000 mcg is the "safe upper limit", with 6mcg as the "100% daily value" (meaning minimum).
